Our Chief Driving Officer Josh Hurley takes driving VERY seriously. He is a professional racing driver, race engineer, driver coach, and Founder of Motorsports Measurements, a driver development and data analysis firm. He has built advanced driving curriculum for a variety of racing schools and driver training operations, including the US Department of State Special Ops Division.
CEO Jason Zimmerman is a championship winning racer with a passion for youth coaching. He’s coached a range of grade levels from little kids “bunch ball” soccer to football at the college level. The idea for Greenlight Driver Training came to him as he was driving a local freeway and saw how poorly people were driving. Knowing he had two daughters approaching 16, he decided to develop a new generation of better drivers.

Professional coach across Ferrari Challenge, GT3, GT4, Formula 4, TransAm, and TA2. Former curriculum designer for the US Special Forces and US Department of State driver training programs. Josh brings a level of driving science and instructional depth to teen driver education that simply doesn’t exist anywhere else in this region.

Championship-winning racing driver and the founder of Greenlight Driver Training. Before building this school, Jason spent years coaching youth, high school, and college athletes — developing the structured, confidence-building instructional approach that defines how Greenlight teaches. He combines competitive racing discipline with elite sports coaching methodology in every session.
Rico Rolleri — Driving Instructor

Retired Captain, Berkeley Police Department. Rico brings decades of professional law enforcement driving, emergency vehicle operation, and real-world hazard recognition to his instruction. His students learn to read traffic and manage risk the way trained professionals do, because that’s exactly the background their instructor has.

Former California Highway Patrol Officer. Kyle spent his career on California’s roads — observing driver behavior, enforcing traffic law, and responding to collisions. He understands not just the rules of the road but the patterns of error that cause real crashes. That professional road-safety perspective shapes every lesson he teaches.

Research has proven that simulators are an effective driver training tool. High risk industries like aviation, law enforcement, and medicine all utilize simulation-based training. If our best pilots and surgeons are being taught with simulation tech, why wouldn’t we use it to teach the next generation of drivers?
Driver training has been stagnant for the past 40 years, but the driving experience has changed significantly, particularly with the introduction of new technologies. And, it’s a sad fact that drivers are more distracted and less patient these days.
